The Challenge

Why Houston Texas?

Houston, Texas, is the fourth largest city in the United States.  The area is racially diverse. The city is home to African Americans, Hispanics and Asians who have a genetic disposition to certain iron mediated imbalances. We also have a population of hypertensive white females.

Due to the city’s humidity and heat, most Houstonians live fully air conditioned lives and  get little sunshine Vitamin D benefit. Residents go from an air conditioned apartment to an air conditioned car, to an air conditioned office or grocery store, and then back.

One might be outside working in a garden for part of the day but take showers at night that rinse off all the positive benefits of Vitamin D formation. In short, Houstonians don’t get the required benefits from sunshine and sweating.

A side effect of the environmental, iron loading genetic dispositions is the inability to manage weight appropriately. Iron loading in your fat cells obliterates the secretion of primary fat-burning hormones – Adiponectin. The protocol reduces fat cell iron loading and restores the production of Adiponectin.

Houston is home to a number of community minded women leaders and physicians who can make a difference in their hometown and the world.
